T he House Ear Institute1  and the House Ear Clinic are two cooperating organizations that share a mutual dedication to the research and treatment of the ear and hearing disorders. A description of this unique facility and its numerous functions is best approached by providing a brief review of the origin of both the clinic and the institute, and then describing the structure and philosophy of the entire facility as it currently exists. This overview will provide insight into a multifaceted, combined otologic practice and research institute that stimulates and challenges every facet of the professions of otology and audiology.
