This editorial is my first in the American Journal of Audiology (AJA). As anyone who knows me will tell you, I have strong opinions and rarely worry about angering a few people. No doubt I will offend some readers in the future, but in this editorial, I would like to talk about volunteerism and audiology. I choose this fairly noninflammatory topic for several reasons. First, this is ASHA’s Year of the Volunteer, so this is as good a time as any to talk about volunteering. Second, as an editor, my job would be impossible without Associate Editors and reviewers, who are volunteers.
